Creating music for actors, clowns, and dancers is a unique challenge I’ve come to enjoy. I’ve spent hundreds of hours collaborating with the San Francisco Mime Troupe, the New Pickle Circus, storyteller/beatboxer Tim Barsky, choreographer Susan Marshall, Art & Revolution, California Shakespeare Theater, and Berkeley Repertory Theatre, and I’ve played at more than a few modern dance performances, street theater and puppet festivals, and protest gatherings. I had a blast working with director Patricia McGregor on Studio Theatre’s 2017 production of Dominique Morrisseau’s Skeleton Crew, which was nominated for a 2018 Helen Hayes Award in the “Best Production” category.
The Crane & The Crocodile 2.1: Domestic Interrogations, a performance piece Rosemary Hannon and Miriam Wolodarski unveiled in Berkeley, California in 2016, triggered a cornucopia of flavors.
Thanks to director Patricia McGregor, the music I brought to California Shakespeare Theater’s 2013 production of A Winter’s Tale had more than a touch of Afrofuturism and magical realism.
Director Margo Hall inspired me to bring orchestral string textures to Lorraine Hansberry Theater’s 2015 production of Thurgood.
